Congratulations
on your decision to marry
A wedding is a wonderful
celebration of commitment and of your union. It represents
the public declaration of your love for each other and the uniting of
the families from which you have come.
What
I will do for you
As
an experienced marriage celebrant I will work with you and help you
design a ceremony that is personal to you; one that reflects your
relationship, your values, and your hopes for the future. Whether yours
is a ceremony for ten people or a hundred or more, we can work together
to ensure it is sincere, fitting and authentically you.
To
plan your marriage ceremony, I would work with you in the following
way:
Start
by meeting you and getting to know you. (If you live overseas, then we
‘meet’ via email and telephone)
Listening
to how you want your wedding ceremony to unfold; the things you would
like; the things you do not want, the music you want to include.
Providing
you with some examples of vows, words for the exchanging of rings,
poems, etc. as a ‘starter kit’ for your ceremony.
A
second meeting where the elements you have chosen for your ceremony are
gathered together. From these I begin to draft your ceremony,
emailing it back to you for editing by you both.
A
few days before your wedding we have a dress rehearsal.
I
arrive at the venue for your wedding ceremony 30 minutes beforehand,
and am fully prepared and relaxed and ready to officiate at your
ceremony, allowing you to enjoy and enter into your special day,
knowing I will guide you through this time.
What you
should do
In
preparation for your marriage ceremony I advise, and especially if you
are coming from overseas to marry in New Zealand, that you to read
about the legal requirements as set out in the Department of Internal
Affairs website – www.dia.govt.nz.
I
am also happy to answer any questions you may have surrounding this
area.
